How to choose the right hat for your face shape

 
 

Top 10 Tips on How to Choose a Hat

Oval face shape - goes well with all types of hats.

Triangle face shape - hats that sit high on your forehead.

Square face shape - tilt the brim of your hat, wear it high on the forehead. Wear large earrings.

Elongated face shape - sunhats, floppy hats and other large brimmed hats. Pull hat brim down to your eyebrows.

Heart face shape - straight hats where the crown is wider than your cheekbones.

Round face shape - angular hats and large hats. Wear large earrings.

Narrow face shape - full hats that are not tall or narrow.

Wide face shape - pillbox style hats.

High forehead - pull the brim of the hat down to the eyebrows.

Large nose - angle larger hats toward the front of the head, not the back.

Crazy for Polka Dots!

I adore polka dots.

Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen
 a dot I did not like. 

Goorin Brothers 'Lonsdale' hat, 100 inch string of pearls, 

Gap shirt, Petite Sophisticate pant

Luckily for me, two of my favorite things

just seem to match well with polka dots...

hats and pearls!

 I was in Boston for Easter weekend 

and picked up the Lonsdale hat 

from Goorin Brothers on Newbury Street. 

I like cloche hats because 
they cover my high forehead 
and put a little mystery in my look
by covering my eyes.


Cloche hats look great on ladies with oval,
 heart shaped and long faces.  


I first fell in love with cloches when I saw 
Angelina Jolie's character wearing them
in the movie Changeling.

Do you love polka dots?

I like to wear small brimmed cloche hats 

like this one while I'm out 

running errands on a sunny day. 

They help keep the sun out of my eyes 

and make a black and white outfit 

look more striking!

I feel very romantic and stylish in the hat.

Hats in the Garden, Naples Botanical Garden Fundraiser

This year's Naples Botanical Garden

 'Hats in the Garden' fundraiser 

will be held on November 15, 2012. 

Michael Kors will be the featured designer 

at the Ninth Annual 

Hats in the Garden luncheon.

 During the event, Mr. Kors will present 

a runway show of his Spring 2013 

ready wear collection.

Lilly Pulitzer and Sunhat

Recently, I got the chance to do 

a little shopping at the Pink Paddock, 

a Lilly  Pulitzer via shop 

in Saratoga Springs.

Goorin Brothers 'Lady Leanne'  hat, Lilly Pulitzer 'Amberly' dress and purse, 

Ross-Simons coral necklace and earrings, Bath and Body Works White Citrus fragrance

The staff is friendly 

and the service was excellent. 

They even poured me a glass 

of pink sparkling wine 

to sip while I was shopping!

I enjoyed walking around Saratoga Springs 

in my sunhat. I felt so relaxed! 

After visiting the Pink Paddock, 
we sat outside at Lillian's 
and shared a cup of chilled peach soup 
and a split of Champagne. 

I think wearing a sundress and sun hat 

is like taking a mini vacation 

without leaving home.

I love this hat. 

It makes me feel very sophisticated! 

I think that some ladies 
may be afraid of adding hats 
to their fashion wardrobe 
because matching hats to outfits 
would take too much time. 

It only took me about five minutes 
to put together this look because 
a stylish black hat pairs well 
with so many different outfits.
