What Is Felt Hat Day?

Traditionally, Felt Hat Day was the first day 

that men could wear fall and winter hats made of felt, 

making September 14th the last day 
for wearing straw hats, 

similar to the 'rule' about only wearing 
white and seersucker

in between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

When Should I Start Wearing Straw Hats?

Straw Hat Day is May 15th. 

I start wearing straw hats on Easter Sunday 

if it is warm enough for a spring outfit.

@ellenchristine @ThatsaPrettyHat def not past thanksgiving. darker straws, fabric hats R great as transitional. Vics used velvet on straw  

@ThatsaPrettyHat @ellenchristine remember that customs 4 "changing" were targeted towards men. Women have always had more options.
