Goorin Brothers hat, Lilly Pulitzer dress and purse,
Ross-Simons coral necklace
in Boston shares a great tip
for buying a hat
in her blog post, "How To Buy a Hat #2."
Her advice?
Make sure to put the hat on
in front of a full length mirror
before you buy it!
I agree that sometimes hats and sunglasses
look better on me in a tiny mirror
than they do when I get a chance to look
in a full length mirror.
As a petite woman, I want the hat
to complement my frame and height,
not overwhelm me.
I always save my receipts
and make sure I can put together
a few hat and dress pairings
with a new hat
before I add it to my hat collection.
When I go hat shopping, I also try
to wear a nice outfit.
If I am buying a summer sunhat,
I will shop in a summery outfit.
If I am buying a hat
to wear to the racetrack,
I will wear a nice dress.
This way, I can get a peek
at what the total outfit may look like
before I purchase a hat.
When I try a hat on,
I look at myself in a full length mirror
and focus on what I am feeling.
Am I feeling confident?
Do I feel pretty and ladylike?
Do I feel sassy and have a confident smile?
If the answer is yes, I buy the hat!
Do you have any hat shopping tips and tricks?
