The Saratoga Racecourse opens in just a few days

Caroline Fontenot of the
Back Down South blog
shares some photos of the
Atlanta Steeplechase here:
The women of Atlanta seem to favor
brightly colored knee length dresses,
some either sleeveless or completely strapless,
paired with matching wide brimmed hats.
For the most part, feathers and plumage
were not too over the top.
Pink, red and orange
were preferred color choices.
The 47th Annual Atlanta Steeplechase
was held on April 14, 2012.
Photos of the hat parade are here:
These women certainly know
how to wear a beautiful hat!
I saw many classy hats in the slideshow.
Based on the smiles in the photos,
many of the women felt beautiful in their hats.
Of course, there were some
over-the-top just-for-fun creations.
Many of the 'crazier' hats
were worn with jean jackets.
One great thing I saw -
these three fine ladies wore
some potentially overwhelming hats
with great grace.
I would definitely like to have lunch
with any one of them
to get to know them better!
Their photo can stand alone
as a photo tutorial on
how to wear a big hat to the track:
Great posture, shoulders back
and smile like you own the world
- or at least the winning horse.
What do you wear to the horse racing track?
